Most people believe Threading originated in India over 6,000 years ago and spread throughout Asia, the Middle East and in recent times Europe. The Arabic word for threading is 'Khite'; in Egypt it is also called 'Fatlah'.
Threading uses pure cotton thread. The Esthetician twists the hair and threading pulls out a whole row of hair, as opposed to tweezing where only one single hair is pulled out. It is the best alternative to waxing and tweezing, especially for sensitive skin. Threading can target individual hairs to get the precise shape and smooth finish you want. Once threaded depending on your hair type and area of the face, full re-growth can be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks. Hair will start to grow back sparse and finer after repeated threading because hair is pulled out at the root, which weakened it. You can get re-threaded as soon hair grows just above the skin, whereas with waxing the hair needs to be at least 2/8” long before it can be removed again.
A simple eyebrow threading can take 5-10 minutes. The upper lip threading takes about 5 minutes; a Full face threading takes about 20-30 minutes.
